Summary
Poolside (“Poolside,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) connects homeowners with certified pool service professionals. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what choices you have. By creating an account or using our website, mobile app, or services, you consent to the practices described here.
If you have questions or want to exercise any of the rights described below, email support@withpoolside.com.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information when you use Poolside.
1.1 Information you give us
- Account & identity: name, email address, phone number, and authentication identifiers (Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google, or a phone-based one-time code).
- Property & service: service address, pool details (size, equipment, chemistry readings, photographs), service preferences, and access notes (gate codes, pets, parking).
- Payment information: we do not store full payment card numbers. Stripe, our payment processor, tokenizes your card on our behalf and returns a reference we use for future charges. We retain the last four digits, card brand, expiration date, billing ZIP, and the Stripe customer/payment-method identifiers.
- Communications: messages, support tickets, and feedback you send through the app, email, or SMS.
1.2 Information we collect automatically
- Device & usage data: device model, operating system, app version, IP address, language, time zone, and basic usage events (screens viewed, features used).
- Push tokens:when you grant notification permission, your device's push token (APNs) so we can send appointment reminders, ETAs, and service-completion alerts.
- Location: service-address geocoding for coverage and routing. Background location is requested only when you sign in as a pool service professional and start an active service route; we do not collect homeowner location in the background.
- Photographs: service-visit photos that technicians attach to inspection or repair reports. We may run optical-character-recognition (OCR) on equipment photos to read serial numbers and gallon ratings.
1.3 Information from third parties
- Sign-in providers (Apple, Google) share your name and email when you choose to sign in.
- Payment processor (Stripe) shares charge outcomes, dispute events, and payout status.
- Map and address-validation providers (Google Maps, Google Address Validation) confirm and standardize the addresses you enter.
2. How we use information
- Provide the service: match you with a certified pool service professional, schedule visits, send ETAs, capture service reports, and process payments.
- Communicate with you: appointment confirmations, invoices, support replies, and account notices. You can opt out of marketing email at any time; transactional messages cannot be opted out of while you hold an active account.
- Improve the product: measure feature usage, identify defects, and improve recommendations.
- Safety, fraud prevention, and compliance:detect abuse, enforce our Terms, comply with legal obligations, and protect Poolside, our customers, and pros.
3. How we share information
We share personal information only as described here:
- With pool service professionals: we share the information necessary to perform your service — first name, service address, pool details, access notes, and your photographs of the pool. Pros do not receive your payment card information.
- Service providers acting for Poolside: Convex (backend hosting and data storage), Stripe (payments), Twilio (SMS notifications), Resend (email notifications), Apple Push Notification service (push), Google Cloud (Maps, Geocoding, Address Validation, Vision OCR), and Apple/Google sign-in providers. Each processes data only on Poolside's instructions and subject to contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
- Legal and safety: if required by law, regulation, subpoena, or court order, or where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, property, or safety.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred subject to this Privacy Policy or a substantially similar successor policy.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties for their independent marketing purposes.
4. Your rights and choices
- Access, correct, delete:you can review and edit account information in the app under Settings. You can permanently delete your account and associated personal data at any time from Settings > Delete account, or by emailing support@withpoolside.com. Deletion is final after a 30-day grace period during which we may retain limited records to satisfy tax, audit, anti-fraud, and dispute-resolution obligations.
- Marketing preferences: every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. SMS marketing messages (if any) honor STOP replies.
- Push and location permissions:you can revoke push or location permissions at any time from your device's system settings. Revoking location may disable live-ETA features.
- California, EU, and similar privacy rights: where local law gives you additional rights (for example, access, portability, deletion, restriction, or non-discrimination), email support@withpoolside.com and we will respond within the time required by that law.
5. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and for a limited period after deletion as required to: honor refund and dispute windows; comply with tax, audit, and accounting laws; investigate fraud or abuse; and resolve open disputes. We then delete or anonymize the information. Aggregated and de-identified data may be retained indefinitely.
6. Security
We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information: encrypted transport (TLS 1.2+), encrypted storage at rest, role-based access controls, audit logs, and regular reviews of third-party processors. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
7. Children
Poolside is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at support@withpoolside.com and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, give you reasonable notice through the app, email, or our website before the change takes effect. Your continued use of Poolside after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
